The
Australian system of
educationis one of the highest standards and enjoys
international renown; the schools develop student skills and
confidence. Australian university graduates excel at the cutting
edge of research and innovation and vocational and technical
education driving the thriving industrial sector. Australia is
widely recognised as a world leader in the field of international
education and English language training. The teaching is highly
interactive and students are encouraged to participate and develop
skills as well as acquire knowledge The Federal Minister for
Education is Peter Garrett who is the former lead
singer with 'Midnight Oil'
At the moment the
Federal Government funds Non Government schools, while the State
Governments fund Government schools. Each State Government manages the
school system within their state and this means that they provide
funds and regulation for their schools. Both public schools and
private schools exist in each state, and the curriculum taught may
vary, but the learning areas are the same in all
The Governments provide Australian families
with high quality, accessible, affordable and integrated early
childhood education and child care, to ensure all children are fully
prepared for learning and life
The Federal Government provides the funding for
universities in all the states, but each is independent in its
governance. They set their courses and course content. Typically, a
university course takes three or four years of full time
study
.
Federal Government has released theGonski
Review on school funding. The report, authored by
businessman and academic David Gonski, has found that the current
school funding arrangements are complex, confusing and have obscure
goals. Itrecommends thatan extra $5
billion would be needed to implement the changes based on 2009
figures. Its to be budgeted and spread across all schools with $3.8
billion going to Public schools with special emphasis on
disadvantaged students.
Julia Gillard will not say yet
how much extra her Government will spend, but the amount
recommended was not allocated in recent budget

are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come
through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they

bodies but not their souls, for their
souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not

say they and their students feel under too much pressure to achieve
good results. All children are tested on reading, writing, grammar

were teaching by rote, staging weekly tests aimed at boosting NAPLAN
