Our science has brought pain as well as joy; our comfort is paid for by the suffering of millions. Our science has brought pain as well as joy, our comfort is paid for by the suffering of millions worldwide. Australian system of health care is world class in both its effectiveness and efficiency, consistently ranking in the best performing group of countries in the world. The population generally has good health, with life expectancy at 75 for men and 81 for women. However there are some groups with poor health status, notably Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, but the patterns of disease is similar to that of other developed countries

.

Federal Government sets national health policies and subsidies. Health services are provided by state and territory governments and the private sector. Like other countries, Australia faces growing pressures on health funding because of technological changes, increasing patient expectations and an ageing population. The Australian Government funds universal medical services and pharmaceuticals and gives financial assistance to public hospitals, residential, home and community care for the aged. It is the major source of funds for health research and provides support for training of health professionals

State and territory governments provide a variety of direct health services, including acute and psychiatric hospital services. They also provide community and public health services, including school health, dental health, maternity, child health, occupational health, disease control activities and a variety of health inspection functions

The main health responsibilities of local government are in environmental control such as garbage disposal, clean water and health inspections. They also provide home care and personal preventive services such as immunisation

Robert said that although I am physically healthy, it is not simply an absence of diseases it's much more. Living in harmony with yourself, the life giving earth, your neighbours, God and in health with friends. If all these are achieved here in our community, then you can be proud of the word health

Dalai Lama

Man, sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present. The result being that he does not live in the present or the future, he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies having never really lived - Dalai Lama

Australian Health Minister Tanya Plibersek said:  We have a good set of health policies, and I want to make sure that they are delivered properly and on time

This page provides news, information and advice only, and before you commence any course of treatment

we highly advise, and recommend that you consult your GP or specialist first

Please Pledge now Most diseases are secondary infections are unnecessary and often have a base and stemming from obesity due to bad diet, processed food, drugs and lack of exercise. The good news is that this process can be totally reversed by a simple, intelligent diet and lifestyle. Resulting in good health, improved longevity and no longer any need of drugs or doctors. This has being proven by scientific research and in my life as I healed myself. It's a profound change yet very simple.  Pledge to eliminate bad health, sickness and disease by diet, exercise and become healthy and live longer. Dr Karl waxes lyrical and Grapefruit not great

.

Dr KarlDr Karl waxes lyrical on the epigenetic's of bees

ABC's resident science guru Dr Karl gives us the buzz on bees,

the perils they face, their tasty vomit and the role they're playing in cancer research. The diet and lifestyle is similar to that recommended for diabetics, its simple, tasty and inexpensive food with just 30 minutes walking a day. It works as I know, I've done it !!

.

Dr Karl probes the unsavoury science of 'transpoosion'. This proves once again the vicious cycle of using drugs and their side effects. The only way is to bypass this process, get back to basics and take the Pledge now

Call for tax on sugary soft drinks Three of Australia's biggest health groups want the Federal Government to follow the lead of some other countries and introduce a tax on sugary drinks. The Cancer Council, Diabetes Australia and the Heart Foundation of Australia have joined forces to increase public awareness of the potential health impacts of soft drinks and energy drinks, and encourage consumption of healthier alternatives such as water. They are calling on all schools in Australia to ban the sale of soft drinks to tackle the growing rate of obesity.

.

Kerryn PhelpsUltimate Wellness With January almost over, it's time to check in on your health mission for 2013.GP Kerryn Phelps argues that most of us feel constantly below par, stuck in a health rut, unable to make changes that would allow us to feel 100 per cent. And that's what has decided to tackle in her new book 'Ultimate Wellness', the 3-Step Plan. It’s good to hear a GP who is aware of the relationship between health and diet, and Kerryn Phelps is a breath of fresh air. Please look at our latest news on the at top

Expert defends obesity campaign Professor Amanda Sainsbury defends a new ad campaign to tackle obesity which is being accused of encouraging eating disorders. She says 70 per cent of adult Australians are overweight and this causes many health problems

.

Jai GouldingDisrupted Sleep linked to Disrupted Memory A bad night's sleep often leads to a bad day, and it may also hamper the ability to store memories, especially in older people. Scientists have claimed for a while that as people age, the ability to create new memories gets worse. Now a study published in the journal ‘Nature Neuroscience’ has found disruptions in sleep are hindering the creation of new memories. In my case, this is not true.  I don’t need much sleep and am very active indeed. Both my short and long term memory is great. I’m 71 years of age.

.

Year Without Alcohol  Drinking less alcohol is a health challenge faced by many Australians and summer is synonymous with social drinking. Jill Stark, a senior writer with 'The Sunday Age' and author of   ‘High Sobriety - My Year without Booze’

Final proof that this diet works and cures Disease

My original blood test showed high cholesterol and high blood pressure with diabetes 2. With improved diet and drugs, blood and home pressure tests have been normal for months. Recent Lab blood test via doctor result (20/01/) showed everything normal too. I immediately stopped taking both pills, and nothing has changed, It’s conclusive the changes in my diet and lifestyle have proved once again it works

 Please take the Pledge now

.
Why Vegetarian Many people are now realizing that adopting a vegetarian diet is one of the simplest ways to increase life expectancy, and protect against stroke, obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer, some of this country’s top killers. Expensive treatment of these conditions puts enormous pressure on personal budgets as well as the struggling national health care system.

Dangers of smoking for women Dr Norman Swan, host of Tonic and RN's Health Report, discusses new research into the long-term health effects of Lance Armstrong's drug usage, smoking in women, and whether cancers can be inherited

Mind over Medicine We've all heard about placebos, those phoney sugar pills that doctors sometimes hand out to trick people into thinking they've been medicated. It's all about using the extraordinary healing power of positive thinking. Well, now researchers are making revolutionary advances in the science of placebos. So much so, it's gone way beyond swallowing fake tablets to cure minor ailments. They've now got patients undergoing pretend operations to fight disease and chronic pain, and the results are nothing short of remarkable

Common drugs may be making you sick

We've grown accustomed to taking pills when we feel bad for headaches, insomnia, mild depression, indigestion, and the aches and pains of aging, to name a few common complaints. We're so used to automatically reaching into our medicine cabinets for quick relief We're so used to automatically reaching into our medicine cabinets for quick relief that we don't stop to ask an obvious question: What's causing the discomfort? We want to mask our symptoms, and the pharmaceutical companies and conventional doctors are more than happy to oblige. The problem is, a headache isn't caused by aspirin deficiency, so aspirin isn't going to cure it! Even worse, many common drugs we take to relieve our symptoms both over the counter and prescription medications often make the symptoms worse and can make you sicker

Today begins the rest of your life Make a difference as Bo Bennett once said, "Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose." If you were to hold a vivid, fearful picture in your imagination, your body would respond through the autonomic nervous system with a feeling of uneasiness, upset stomach, elevated pulse and blood pressure, sweating and dryness of the mouth.  However, if you were to hold a pleasant, relaxing image in your mind, your body would respond with a lowered heart rate, decreased blood pressure, and relaxed muscles. What the mind pictures and harbor's the body manifests.  See Truth

Baby boomers are fat and chronically ill   Researchers from Adelaide's three universities have completed the first stage of a report. They've found the proportion of baby boomers with three or more chronic conditions was 700 per cent greater than the previous generation. The study concluded  that obesity among baby boomers is more than double the rate of their parents at the same age

There is no 3G in heaven    One suicide is a tragedy, but what happens when a community is rocked by a series of suicides, one after another. Do the families mourn in private, fearful that expressing their grief publicly could result in more deaths? Or does the community come together, so that individual families can tell their stories and in turn do something to combat the insidious face of depression and its consequences? Young people are in fact talking about suicide all the time on Facebook. As one parent explains, it was only after the death of her child that she realised her daughter had been discussing her depression and suicidal thoughts on Facebook. When calls and messages kept coming addressed to her deceased daughter her mother was forced to write

Antiretroviral drugs could help prevent the spread of HIV in high-risk communities, but world authorities have been slow to embrace new HIV prevention strategies outside the research arena. In the last two years, we have come closer to finding effective biomedical solutions to preventing HIV infections than any time in the past two decades. A pill a day can prevent HIV, if taken consistently by an HIV-negative person at high risk of acquiring HIV. If a person consistently takes effective anti-HIV medication, the chances of them infecting a sexual partner are close to zero. The condom while remaining cheap, effective and sometimes convenient, is now just one part of the HIV prevention toolbox rather than the whole kit and kaboodle. But in practice, access to these new forms of HIV prevention is constrained by regulatory systems, concerns about cost, and a fear of new technologies eroding the 'condom culture' that saw the whole scale adoption of condoms by gay men worldwide in the mid-80s, who perceived the threat of HIV, and improvised a form of protection
